PUL Sportswriting Program
The Premier Ultimate League is excited to announce the launch of the PUL Sportswriting Program! To further our mission of bringing more visibility and exposure to womxn athletes in the sport of Ultimate, we want to make sure that fans have access to exciting game stories for every PUL game in addition to the many human interest stories behind the games, players, rivalries and league as a whole.
The League is also committed to providing more opportunities for womxn writers and want to elevate womxn writers as well as the players and teams they are covering. We put out a call for interested writers within the ultimate community and received a huge response! Although not every writer covering the league will be a womxn, this program could be another important step toward achieving gender equity in sports (and sportswriting).
We are also excited to announce that we have hired a fantastically talented and qualified writer and editor to oversee and organize the program: Eliza Pugh! Eliza is one of the captains of Grit, a women's club team in Washington D.C. She is a graduate of Harvard University and works at an international development nonprofit in DC in a writing/editing position. More recently, she covered the women's division reporting for USAU at Nationals in 2018. Welcome, Eliza!
We aim to have a game write-up for every PUL game as well as plenty of player features and behind the scenes stories with quotes and insights from the players, coaches and league sources told thru the words of the community that supports and cheers for them in the stands!
