VOLUNTEER OPENINGS

  • The PUL Observer Coordinator will work with teams to identify and recruit observers, as needed, and address concerns and/or grievances as they emerge. The coordinator will also create materials and training for current and future PUL observers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist home teams with identifying observers, as needed. At least one observer for a match should be USAU- or WFDF-certified

    • Follow up with observers and teams post-match to identify points of friction and/or areas of improvement

    • Ensure observers understand the PUL rules and systems

    • Review grievances with assistance of the PUL Commissioner

    AUTHORITY

    You will be an independent contractor and not an employee of PUL. As such, you will not be entitled to any employee benefits and PUL will have no responsibility to withhold for taxes or unemployment insurance. You will consult with the PUL’s President on important operational matters and report to PUL’s governing board. You may not enter into contracts, commit PUL to any obligations or liabilities or write checks on behalf of PUL except as authorized in a resolution adopted by PUL’s governing board. PUL will provide directors and officers liability insurance coverage and corporate indemnification for your activities on behalf of PUL within the scope of your duties if, as and to the extent such coverage and indemnification is provided for PUL officers and directors generally and subject to the availability of such coverage at reasonable rates and legality of such indemnification under applicable law.

    COMPENSATION

    $500

    PUL LIVESTREAM COORDINATOR DESCRIPTION

    The mission of the Premier Ultimate League is to achieve equity in the sport of ultimate by increasing accessibility to the sport for, and visibility of women, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, and genderfluid people through high-quality competition, leadership experiences, and community partnerships.

    We are working to improve access for everyone to play ultimate at the highest level and showcase their talents to the world as a way to strive for gender, racial, and economic diversity as a critical component in making the sport the best that it can be. We are currently looking for a Livestream Coordinator who is aligned with our mission and goals and can help to plan, coordinate, and promote the league.

    The Livestream Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating with PUL teams to prepare and execute their game streams. The coordinator will also monitor real-time traffic and the quality of these livestreams, communicating with the on-site producers as needed, and helping to prepare gameday graphics for use during livestreams. The coordinator will be expected to work weekends during PUL games, as monitoring for and correcting streaming issues is the top priority for this role.

    The Livestream Coordinator is a contract position and will report to the Commissioner.

    DUTIES AND AUTHORITY

    • Scheduling all livestreams on the PUL YouTube page and managing access to individual teams

    • Researching and implementing possible monetization methods

    • Update the PUL livestreaming guide for 2024, incorporating user-friendly guides and checklists for fulfilling all PUL requirements for streams

    • Curate an assets library for streaming including but not limited to

    • Up-to-date logos for each PUL team

    • Logos for season sponsors

    • Commercials for season sponsors

    • Voiceover scripts for season sponsors

    • Assist teams in updating their software encoder presets and animations packages.

    • Work with teams in the pre-season to confirm their livestream contractors or in-house teams are set up and properly equipped, assist with selecting camera placement locations at home game venues, and inform them of necessary logo and commercial placement(s) for all streams

    • Meet with each team at least two weeks prior to and then again the week of their home game to ensure they can successfully execute the stream for their upcoming game

    • Monitor real-time traffic and quality of all PUL streams

    • Communicate any necessary corrections or changes to on-site producers

    • Send follow-up communications noting what went well and what needs to be improved for future streams

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in livestream production and/or coordination, including experience using a software encoder (vMix or similar) and a live graphics control application (SPX or similar)

    • Experience with filming sports

    • You have excellent oral and written communication skills

    • You’re a great partner both internally and externally, capable of developing relationships that deepen our ability to make an impact on women and non-binary people’s professional ultimate

    • Your ability to establish and meet deadlines is on point as well as your ability to establish clear priorities quickly

    • You possess a broad proactive mindset, exceptional listening, framing and strategic abilities, and superb skills at creating new possibilities

    • You are able to work independently and as part of a team, manage work with varying deadlines and minimal daily supervision
